Col. J. M. Batra
Col. Batra, while speaking on the occasion, made a mention that contribution of VSI sector, more in particular, SSI sector are on record, and it will certainly fulfill 12% growth as fixed under the 10th plan. While saying so, he made a halt and reminded the predicament in terms of constraints faced by SSI/VSI sector. He highlighted (a) non-availability of timely and adequate credit, (b) horror of the inspector raj and submitted to bring single-point legislation, which was very often talked about and assured by the Prime Minister for its fast implementation. Col. Batra concluded by saying that VSI sector, particularly SSI sector is capable and potential to deliver results without incurring any further expenditure from the national exchequer if the gap between the existing policy decision and implementation is bridged.

Smt. Anju Bajaj
Smt. Bajaj while speaking on the occasion particularly made a mention without any repetition that marketing and/ or non-availability of marketing outlets of VSI/SSI products is another potent factor in demoralising the SSI entrepreneurs. She pleaded that retention capacity of the poor SSI entrepreneurs is far less than the organized sector. Even if retention capacity is there, they have to block capital in one hand while they face dearth of working capital requirement. This problem needs to be addressed immediately. She asked what hindered the national executive committee of the Indian Council of Small Industries to initiate the agreed marketing scheme "SAHAYOG" when member association agreed to subscribe equity? |
