By Shri K. K. Sarkar, Secretary General, ICSI
I am a bit overwhelmed in getting opportunity to convey vote of thanks. I, on behalf of Indian Council of Small Industries convey my deep regards and thanks to SHRI SANTOSH KUMAR BAGRODIA, M.P. and Chairman, Department-related Parliamentary Committee on Industry for gracing the inaugural ceremony as Chief Guest leaving aside his many many assignments as we all know how busy the personality is and how expansive in nature and how elastic he is extending all round support to the SSI sector. We are grateful to him for not minding any, for pestering on many moments and will remain grateful for giving us personal hearing for discussion. We are equally grateful to Dr. (Ms.) Syeda Hameed, Member, Planning Commission, for sparing her valuable moments leaving aside her many appointments. We are also grateful to Dr. Satyananda Mishra, IAS, DC, SSI for his commitment in attending the inaugural session despite his preoccupation, when the ongoing parliamentary session is meant for question answer for the SSI sector, being instrumental linkage.

Shri K K Sarkar giving the Vote of Thanks
My sincere thanks also goes to Dr. P. L. Sanjeeva Reddy, IAS (Retd), Former Secretary, Government of India, and Director, Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi. Though he could not be present here at this occasion owing to preoccupation, he was never miser in patronizing Indian Council of Small Industries in every activity. It is a laudable endeavour on his part to create a Chair for Studies and Research and development for the Small and Medium Enterprises. ICSI is the catalytic agent for such move and the guiding spirit is the camaraderie of past President of Indian Council of Small Industries, Late S. S. Singhania with the Indian Institute of Public Administration and in particular, with the gigantic personality like Dr. P. L. Sanjeeva Reddy. I convey my thanks to Prof. (Dr.) C. S. Venkata Ratnam for his personal presence in the inaugural session and record our indebtedness to him in giving latitude to support this international seminar. I, on behalf of Indian Council of Small Industries convey my sincere thanks and gratitude to Shri S. K. Verma, Director, Ministry of External Affairs, MER Division, Government of India for his presence and extending assistance, hour to hour guidance to make this international seminar happen. Though not in the dais, I would be ungrateful if I do not convey my thanks and regards to Ms. D. Charandasi, Under Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, MER Division who is with us as a distinguished guest and in the language of Rabindra Nath Tagore, she is not to be treated as ‘Kabye Upekshita’ i.e. ‘shadowed in the epic’ like ‘Urmila’ in the Ramayana, but for her monitoring with the embassies of BIMSTEC countries including India in Bangkok, it would have been impossible to get the august presence of the participants of the member countries of Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand. I convey my thanks to Shri R. S. Ratna, Director, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India for his august and valuable guidance, though being the busiest person in the Ministry. I once again, on behalf of Indian Council of Small Industries, convey my thanks to one and all for participating in this inaugural session.
It is indeed customary to conclude the event by conveying vote of thanks and it is ritualistic one. Let me convey my regards and respect first to Late S. S. Singhania, the founder President of ICSI, whose dream is taking shape. Before going into the ritualistic one, I would humbly submit that the framework of the seminar was conceptualized getting a photo flash of Shri R. S. Ratna, Director, RMTR Division, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. And by that time, we were working as if under distant learning programme and they were unaware of. To make the programme fructify, we got enough latitude from Shri Richh Paul, Under Secretary, Ministry of SSI, Government of India. It would, therefore, be my first job to convey my thanks to Shri R. S. Ratna, Mr. Rajat Bansal, Director and Shri Richh Paul, Under Secretary, Ministry of SSI, Government of India. Again, I would be ungrateful, if I do not go into the sequential method and convey my thanks to Shri S. K. Verma, Director, and Ms. D. Charandasi, Under Secretary of MER Division, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India in guiding us to obtaining clearance and required assistance, guidance and what not to make this international seminar a reality. I convey my thanks to Dr. P. L. Sanjeeva Reddy, IAS (Retd), Director, Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi, in helping, guiding and assisting us to make this dream come true. I convey my thanks to Prof. A. Dasgupta, Member Secretary, IIASSI. I also convey my thanks to Prof. Ashoka Chandra, Chairman, Social Sector Governance, International Management Institute and Prof. of Technology and Strategic Management, IMI, in assisting us in every manner including collaboration with their system. I also convey my thanks to Prof. M. K. Khanijo, Senior Adviser, Social Sector Governance, IMI for his all out assistance on procedural aspects of the seminar. I also convey my thanks to Ms. Mamta Bhatnagar and other members of the staff of IMI who were with us and extended their help and co-operation untiringly.
I convey my thanks to Shri Umesh Singh, Dy. General Manager (Marketing-Ancillaries), Shri R. Dharmaji, General Manager, Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), Shri P. K. Divakaran and Shri B. Shiva Gopal from Bharat Dynamics Ltd. and Shri Somenath Ghosh, Chairman and Managing Director, NRDC for guiding the deliberative session with their uncanny wisdom.
My special thanks goes to Shri Sanjeev Kaushal, IAS, Jt. Director, Office of the DC, SSI for taking a valuable session and making the groundwork ready for deliberation in the seminar.
I also record my deep appreciation and regards and convey my thanks to the representatives of embassies and High Commissioner Chanceries of BIMSTEC countries at New Delhi. I convey my special thanks to the foreign participants Mr Engineer Moyeed Roomi from Bangladesh, who had assured us to participate but could not turn up, Mr. Aung Soe Win from Myanmar, Mr, Dhruba Lal Rajbamshi from Nepal, Mr. Keith Sumanasena from Sri Lanka and Mrs. Pairin Yamchinda from Thailand. I express my thanks to Mr. M.M.G. Lal Kumara, Secretary, Ministry of Advanced Technology and National Enterprise Development, Government of Sri Lanka who was to attend the seminar but has not turned up.
I also record my deep appreciation and thanks to the office bearers, members of the National Executive Committee of Indian Council of Small Industries (ICSI) in taking resolution for holding this seminar of utmost importance. I convey my thanks to the veterans to all our office bearers and executive committee members for participating in this seminar. I convey my thanks to the Presidents, Secretaries of fraternal SSI Associations. My special thanks goes to Shri Sudarshan Sareen, President of the newly set up SSI Association AICOSMIA. I convey my thanks to all distinguished participants of the seminar who leaving aside their busy schedule and spending money from their own pockets have come from distant places to attend this seminar.
My special thanks goes to those entrepreneurs who, despite inconveniences have responded to our request and come from distant places to display their innovative products.
I also convey my thanks to Shri Govind Sharma, Manager, NRDC who is eventually the NEC member of ICSI and Correspondent of ICSI Herald. My thanks also goes to Ms. Dolly Bhasin for hosting the web site for ICSI.
I also convey my thanks to the Print and Electronic Media for their presence and giving coverage of the Seminar.
I convey my thanks to Shri P. Kumar, President, who has given enough latitude to me in going ahead with the programme.
I would be ungrateful and doing injustice if I do not mention the special support and untiring efforts of the staff of ICSI who have worked smilingly under stress and strain to make this seminar successful. I believe in participatory approach, all members of ICSI worked shoulder to shoulder as conveyor belt.
I record my deep thanks to Ms. Madhumanti Maitra in acceding to our request to act as Compere in the Seminar.
I would request our President, Shri P. Kumar to present a memento to Ms. Madhumanti Maitra.
